SUCCESS STORY

Aspöck Systems relies on an automated solution with artificial intelligence for end-of-line inspection of LED light sources.

In collaboration with Danube Dynamics, an intelligent inspection system has been developed that significantly increases efficiency and precision, clearly identifies errors and provides full transparency throughout the entire inspection process. The system can be seamlessly integrated, is easy to operate and can be flexibly expanded – for sustainable quality assurance in series production.

The Starting Point:
Challenges in end-of-line testing.

Aspöck Systems was faced with the challenge of meeting the increasing demands for product quality and production volume in end-of-line inspection. The traditional method of manually inspecting LED light sources for quality assurance had reached its limits.

Limitations of manual visual inspection:

Manual visual inspection by humans is prone to errors caused by fatigue, fluctuating concentration levels and subjective judgements, which can lead to inconsistent results.
The process requires trained personnel, is costly, and physically demanding.

A very wide range of products:

With several Thousand product variants the inspection process at Aspöck Systems presented a particular challenge.

Conventional automation solutions could not deliver the necessary flexibility and precision.

Increasing requirements & investments in quality assurance:

The growing demand for high-quality lighting systems called for scalable, fully documented processes which are a key factor in continuous improvement and error prevention.

The Solution:
Intelligent testing system with AI from Danube Dynamics.

Aspöck Systems and Danube Dynamics have jointly developed a tailor-made complete solution combining hardware, software and artificial intelligence. 

At the heart of this innovation is an intelligent test rig that automatically conducts electrical and optical quality checks on products.

Operation has been simplified as much as possible: employees simply insert the products, connect them and interact via an intuitive touch interface.

Further advantages and functions:

Automatic printing of QR codes and labels is used for unique product identification.

Complete recording and monitoring of all test data.

Seamless communication with the SAP system for direct integration into production and quality control processes.

Quick and easy integration of new product variations through independent training of Aspöck employees ensures error-free inspection, even with a wide variety of products.

The Project Process:
Fast. Collaborative. Transparent.

1. From idea to concept in just four weeks

During the initial half-day workshop, the requirements were refined, initial test results were discussed, and the concept was developed. Four weeks later, the final offer was ready.

2. Rapid development through close coordination

Danube Dynamics developed the testing system iteratively in collaboration with Aspöck Systems. The development process was characterised by short feedback cycles, open communication and a high degree of transparency.

3. Rapid implementation and rollout

The system was implemented just four months later. Over the following four weeks, it underwent intensive testing, optimisation and debugging, and employees were trained - ready for deployment.

4. Sustainable support & further development

Danube Dynamics will continue to support Aspöck Systems through individual maintenance contracts and support services, ensuring maximum reliability and the highest standards. A follow-up workshop to expand testing systems has already been arranged.

Mit dem Produkt 3D V-ROX bietet voidsy eine schnelle und kosteneffiziente Lösung zur präzisen und bildgebenden Fehlstellenanalyse mittels aktiver Thermografie. Das System erkennt zuverlässig innere Defekte – wie etwa Delaminationen – und wurde gezielt für die Anforderungen von Hochleistungswerkstoffen in sicherheitskritischen Anwendungen entwickelt. Das photothermische Tomographiesystem 3D V-ROX wurde 2024 als inVISION Top Innovation ausgezeichnet. Zudem wurde voidsy von der Fachleserschaft der inVISION News als Startup des Jahres im Bereich industrielle Bildverarbeitung prämiert.

Das Unternehmen ist nach ISO 9001:2015 zertifiziert, besitzt ein Level-3-Zertifikat gemäß EN ISO 9712 und engagiert sich aktiv in nationalen und europäischen Normungsgremien der zerstörungsfreien Prüfung. Further developments to continuously improve the testing process are already in the planning stage.

Our solution won the EDISON ALVA Special Price in 2025.

The joint project between Aspöck Systems and Danube Dynamics won the prestigious 2025 Edison ALVA Prize for its innovative, AI-based optical quality control solution.

The jury particularly praised the solution's technical excellence, industrial feasibility, and the sustainable benefits it offers manufacturing companies.
